Discover Solihull: Unmissable Things to Do in the Heart of the Midlands

Solihull is that sort of place that is easy to miss. Perhaps behind it is the fact that it is restfully adjacent to Birmingham or perhaps, it just does not make a bigger hue and cry about what is on offer. Real time residents know better. Solihull holds its own charm, not the kind that tells the story at a first sight but it takes a pleasurable walk around to tell you.

Perhaps you are visiting at the weekend, have just moved to the area, or you have been here all your life but you felt you might as well have eyes, so here it is, a no-nonsense list of some of the nicest things to do in Solihull.

Take a Wander Through Town:

Start in the centre. Touchwood is probably where most people begin, and for good reason. It is not just a shopping mall, it is clean, modern, and has easy to walk around with all sorts of shops abundant, including high street fashion and home shops. However, the small extras, pop-up stalls, local events, and the type of coffee shops where you would not feel rushed are more than worthwhile.

A bit outside the centre, there is a combination of smaller stores and more independent cafes in which you can slow things down. Order a snack, pull up to a window and watch people. Sometimes this is all that is needed.

Green Spaces to Slow Things Down:

Solihull does green really well. An extremely spacious park in nature, between Brueton Park and Malvern Park, is right next to each other, and both are practically impossible to even find. You are able to walk/ride, bring a picnic, or even sit on the water and watch the ducks. And there is a small cafe hidden in Brueton also which is the perfect place on colder days to warm yourself up.

Something for the Kids (and Grown-Ups Too):

If you’re with family, Solihull’s got more options than you’d expect. In the town centre, you’ll find a cinema for easy afternoons, plus indoor play areas for the under-10s. On a sunny day, Tudor Grange Park is great for burning off energy – there’s a playground, skatepark, and even a small boating lake in summer.

A short drive out and you’ve got Umberslade Farm Park, which is especially lovely with little ones. Feeding lambs, tractor rides, and fresh air all round — it’s simple fun that doesn’t try too hard.

Eat Well, No Fuss:

The food scene in Solihull delivers. There’s a growing number of independent spots where people genuinely care about what they serve. Pizzas cooked fresh, proper roast dinners, good curries, handmade burgers — and cafés that know their way around a brunch menu.

For something sweet, you won’t struggle either. Local bakeries, dessert parlours, and ice cream shops are easy to come by. And if you just want a strong cup of coffee and a slice of cake, Solihull has you covered.

Evenings Out Without the Hassle:

Not every evening has to be a big night out. Among things to do in Solihull, sometimes you just want something low-key — a film, a drink, maybe a bit of live music. The Core Theatre in Solihull attracts a variety of shows including tribute bands, stand-up comics, play and music nights. It has the same feeling of being intimate or personal, however there is a feeling there is almost always something happening.

Easy to Get To, Hard to Leave:

One of Solihull’s biggest wins is how well connected it is. It takes only minutes to reach the NEC, Birmingham Airport, and even places such as Stratford-upon-Avon, and so forth. However, the moment you get into the local rhythm, you may feel you do not want to leave.

Conclusion:

Solihull is a type of place where one will only need slight planning to have a good outing. Friendly stroll, leisurely breakfast, some window shopping and perhaps a purchase back home in a gastronomical store. natural, easy, and pleasing.

Meta Description:

From peaceful parks and boutique shopping to lively food spots and family days out, explore the top things to do in Solihull for locals and visitors alike.
